CHARACTER AND FEEL

Previously known simply as the north-western corner of the Plateau, Mile End has been considered a separate neighbourhood for many years now. While Mile End is not as popular as Le Plateau proper, it's generally considered "the next big thing" in Montréal.

POPULATION AND DEMOGRAPHICS

Mile End is proudly and almost ostentatiously mixed - ethnically and linguistically. You'll hear English, French, Italian, Portuguese and a few other languages quite often. It is still home to a sizeable Jewish community (that is why the famous Montreal bagel originated in Mile End).
