Rasco's Hotel Next To Marché Bonsecours

Vieux Montreal. The hotel, opened in 1836 by an Italian named Francisco Rasco, used to offer "the finest lodging in Canada", sort like the Ritz today. Among its guests was Charles Dickens, for example. In the 20th century, the hotel fell in decline and the building was stripped of most of its architectural detail. In the 1980's the city took over the building and restored it.
