Sir James McGill condos...

Although they are all now sold out, does anyone have any information, or opinions, about these condo lofts in Vieux-Montréal? They sold out just before I was able to schedule a visit...

I'm just wondering about the interiors, floorplans, renovation quality, etc. and would like to know a bit more than what they show in the photos on the web site. Looks like a quality project, but I may have to wait until one of the owners decides to re-sell (and have an open house)!

Responses welcome... thanks!

Only 10 condos? I am not surprised they're sold (if they really are). Is there any reason why you want to live specifically in that building? (I am asking because I think there are comparable loft buildings just a few blocks away, not directly on McGill, but on the Old Montreal side)..

Well, not necessarily in that specific building, but hopefully one alot like it... :)

Yes, I have seen that there are a few others like it, with 4, 8, 10 or 12 apartments... it was just a personal preference to not live in a larger building (many of which are newer constructions and don‘t have quite the same caché if you know what I mean).

I'm also looking around St-Paul and elsewhere on the same street (McGill).

slavito,

you mentioned that there are some comparable buildings in the area? Do you know of any specific buildings?

I'm condo-hunting from pretty far away (I don't move to Montreal until late summer) and would love to live in a similar building.

Thanks

bookwrm,

Sorry for responding late - I haven't checked the forum for a few days.

What are you looking for? A loft condo? How many units per building? I understand "comparable" as a genuine 19th century loft buildings with only a few units per building (NYC SoHo style). Is that what you're looking for? Or would you be open to new construction as well?

Have you already checked:

http://www.montrealbits.com/apartments/m9_phase_2.html
(new construction)

In other words, give me a little bit more info about your search parameters and hopefully I'll be able to offer some leads.

And as far as honoring my promise, I'll try to post a few pictures of Old MTL loft condo buildings in the next few days.

P.S. Out of curiosity, where are you based now? UK? US? Ireland?

Hey Slavito,

Thanks for getting back. I'm looking for 19th Century buildings with a similar interior- hw floors, exposed brick, large windows. I'm ambivalent about the size of the building although an elevator would be a huge plus.

I'm from the US- north east coast, so not *so* far away.
