The Quebec rental board has issued its recommended rent increases for 2008.

For unheated dwellings not affected by tax increases and/or major renovations, the recommended increase is 0.7% (which corresponds $70 on a $1,000-month apartment).

Rental increases for heated apartments are as follows:

Heated with electricity 0.8 %
Heated with gas 0.5 %
Heated with oil 1.3 %

Additional increase levels are given for units where taxes have increased and units which underwent major renovations and improvements. For more information, consult RENT ADJUSTMENTS IN 2008.
