Police Reassure McGill Ghetto Residents

Montreal police have responded to statements posted in a Facebook group that claimed a sexual predator was active in the McGill Ghetto. This is simply not true, the police said.

Station 38 commander Stéphane Bélanger was quoted by the Gazette as saying the speculations began after two separate incidents - one involving an armed robbery of a woman on April 2nd and another - an attempted suicide of another woman (not a McGill student) on April 10th. These incidents were subsequently (rather inaccurately) described in a Facebook group posting as "at least two [recent] violent attacks on women".
