| $3M Upgrade For Norman Bethune Square Posted 03/Mar/2008 23:50:00 by Gromco SpacingMontreal recently reported
on the city's announcement of a $3 million redevelopment plan for
Norman Bethune Square (Rue Guy and Blvd de Maisonneuve)[*]. Unfortunately, as an
article in the Gazette
pointed out, the transformation
will take until 2011 (if one buys the official timeline)
which already has local merchants up in arms.
Parallels with the recent Blvd St-Laurent upgrade are
not very encouraging.
[* Corr 02-Apr-2008] Previously, both SpacingMontreal and our site reported the $22.4 figure for the budget. That sum, however, appears to be allocated for the works covering not only Norman Bethune Square, but also the entire section of Blvd de Maisonneuve between St-Mathieu and Peel streets. According to a city communique,
the budget for the Norman Bethune Square sector is $3M.
